Community Safety
Creating Safer Communities. Empowering Local Residents.
At Stop the Violence Foundation, we’re tackling violence from the ground up—with trained, trauma-informed Community Safety Ambassadors who make our streets, buses, parks, and neighborhoods safer while creating life-changing job
opportunities for local residents.
This isn’t just about stopping violence. It’s about building careers, restoring dignity, and giving people a pathway to purpose.
Who Are Community Safety Ambassadors?
Our ambassadors are local residents—many with lived experience—who receive paid training and ongoing mentorship to become peacebuilders, public safety stewards, and trusted community responders.
Training Includes:
- De-escalation & conflict resolution
- Mental health first aid
- Public safety & emergency protocols
- Professional communication
- Community engagement & service
- CPR & basic first response
- Cultural competency & trauma-informed care
They gain not just skills—but a career pathway into security, social services, public health, and community leadership roles.
Where They Serve:
- Public Transportation: Onboard city buses and trains to reduce conflict and help riders feel safe
- Neighborhoods: On foot in high-crime zones, offering presence, reporting, and support
- Schools, Parks, & Community Events: Ensuring calm, supporting youth, and helping gatherings remain peaceful
Our Ambassadors offer:
- Community patrols and high-visibility presence
- Support after traumatic or violent events
- Information, navigation, and resource referrals
- Crisis de-escalation and peaceful intervention
- Event safety and neighborhood outreach
- Public education on safety and wellness
Workforce Development & Economic Impact:
Each ambassador represents more than safety—they represent economic mobility.
- Paid, skill-based employment for those who may be justice-involved or unemployed
- Career coaching and transition support into long-term roles in security, human services, and government
- Leadership pipeline into community-based public safety roles
- Wraparound services for success (transportation, case management, housing referrals)
This program doubles as a workforce development pipeline—strengthening individuals while strengthening communities.
